AN ODE TO MY DAD ON FATHERS' DAY

" DADA: A FATHER LIKE NO OTHER

You love to spoil but not to get us rotten in virtue

You chastise but do not break our spirits

You are so strong of  character yet so compassionate

How can you be so powerful, yet so prayerful

In your trust in God and reverence we have grown in faith

Through your stern look we have walked the straight and norrow

Through your heavy voice we are been cautioned about our errors and praised for doing well

You participated fully in our daily care and upbringing as children

From giving us a bath to dressing us up

Your nuggets of wisdom through story telling and counsel have been our life's compass

You provided a shelter over our heads and invested in our education

You inspired us to learn and work hard to make it on our own, rather than wait for an inheritance

Your goal has always been to see your children do well and if possible exceed your achievements

You believe in the adage of standing on the shoulders of giants, and you are that giant

You are an old school man with a modern day swag

You enjoy the fine things of life including outings and site seeing with your family

You cook for our Mum and make her hair among other niceties

We love the way you love our Mum

Your exemplary "husbandhood" sets you apart, and

You raise the bar of fatherhood  so high, that others look so bad

Your kind is rare, and so,

On this special day, I wish you everything you wish for yourself and more

Health, wealth, contentment, fulfillment, joy and peace in all forms

God )mbless wo plenty for all you have done and continue to do

Happy Fathers' Day Mr. J.B. Nkansah"-Marian Asantewah Nkansah
